Bicycle Planter
A cyclist on a delivery bicycle with a pot cradled over the back wheel. The most narrative piece in the range, and one of the few with a job to do.
The rider is drawn rather than assembled — flowing lengths of steel bar shaped into a slim figure leaning into the handlebars, flat-brimmed hat set on the head, one leg down to the pedal. The bicycle is bent rod: two spoked wheels, triangular frame, saddle and pedals, all forge-shaped and welded by hand. The rear carrier is a ring-and-strut cradle that holds a terracotta pot securely, and the whole piece stands on flat welded feet rather than balancing on the rims.
Left unpainted, the surface carries the warm rust-brown patina the steel arrived with. Every piece weathers differently.
Made for a small herb, succulent or trailing plant. It works on a kitchen worktop, windowsill or conservatory shelf, and comes into its own outdoors against a sunlit wall — the openwork frame throws a beautiful shadow.
