The Muse is a one-of-one jade stone portrait, hand-carved in Zimbabwe.
Its composed gaze, softly sculpted hair and radiating necklace create an understated sense of presence. Pale green, cream and grey veining travels naturally across the face and shoulders, making the character of the stone integral to the portrait.
Polished planes are balanced by finely carved lines around the hair, eyes and necklace. Displayed alone on a console, substantial shelf or plinth, the sculpture changes subtly as light moves across its surface.
