The Matriarch is a one-of-one jade stone portrait, hand-carved in Zimbabwe.
A composed expression, sculpted headdress and finely worked necklace give the piece a quiet authority. Tonal veining travels naturally across the face and shoulders, while polished planes sit alongside visible carved detail - allowing the character of the stone and the maker’s hand to remain present.
Designed to stand alone on a console, substantial shelf or plinth, the sculpture becomes especially expressive under directional light. The opening within the headdress is an intentional sculptural element and is not designed as a planter.
