A squirrel sat back on its haunches, holding out a shallow dish in both forepaws. The larger of the two squirrels in the range and the one with a job - fill the dish with seed, mealworms or water and it earns its place in a garden rather than decorating one.
The body is dark oxidised bronze-brown with a hammered, dimpled surface that catches light across the shoulders and back. Ears are cut as separate rounded plates and set pricked, the head turned slightly. The tail is the standout: a full bottlebrush plume of individually cut wire strands, fanned and arced up behind the body. The dish is hand-beaten, welded firmly to the paws, with a raised lip and an irregular hammered surface underneath.
Every tail is fanned by hand and every dish beaten separately, so no two sit quite the same.
29cm deep, 13cm wide, 24cm high. At 0.8kg it has enough weight to sit on a wall, tree stump, decking rail or post top without fixing.
Best somewhere sheltered and visible from a window.
