A standing cow with a long back, deep chest and head raised. The anatomy is what carries it - shoulder, haunch and belly are each shaped as separate riveted sections rather than cut from one silhouette, so it has structure from every angle and the legs draw down to fine cloven hooves that hold it steady.
The hide is two-tone: dark oxidised bronze-black broken by broad panels of chalk white across the flank, shoulder and belly, following the markings of a dairy cow. Rivet heads run visibly along every seam. A pair of long curved horns sweep up and out from a dark poll, the muzzle is worked open with shaped nostrils, and a fine tapered tail hangs from the rump with a kick at the tip.
Where the white panels fall depends on what the salvaged sheet gave the maker that day. No two are marked the same.
20 × 8 × 23cm.
A feature piece rather than a shelf filler. Good on a hall console, sideboard or kitchen dresser, and strong outdoors on a path edge, wall top or set among grasses.
