Garlic Gourd is a one-of-one sculptural vessel, handwoven in Zimbabwe from Ilala palm.
Its broad, softly lobed body and narrow neck translate the familiar form of a garlic bulb into a generous woven object. At 65 cm across, it has a quiet architectural presence while the natural straw tone keeps the silhouette light and grounded.
Every ridge follows the rhythm of the maker’s hand. Subtle variations in the fibre, weave and form are integral to the piece and give it its individual character.
